Power U 12: Reward Power

PowerU #12 - for those that have been following along with these, in PowerU #11 I introduced the 1st of the six types of power (positional power ). Today I’m talking about 2nd type: reward power ⭐. Like positional power, reward power is one of the three formal types of power. Formal power is sometimes called “socially conferred power” which means that it doesn’t exist unless we agree it exists. Sound confusing when you’re thinking about rewards? All the more reason to have a listen! Also – I recorded this video a couple of weeks ago before we knew the results of the provincial election in BC. Elections are always great environments to think about reward power ⭐ (voting is often a kind of reward power) but in this election there is also a lot of reward power at play in the post-election negotiations to try and sort out a functioning legislature. Can’t wait to share the third type of power with you later this week, which is also very topical here in BC right now.
