Power U 69: Working Against Dominant Meta narratives

#PowerU69 - Last episode we talked about plugging into existing meta narratives. But what happens when the dominant one is working actively against your goal? Take the 2022 Vancouver municipal election. If you were paying attention to the debates, you would think crime was sharply on the rise in Vancouver. But as you will see from the graph in this video, the data says something quite different. So how does something so disconnected from reality become the main determinant of an election? Because “crime is on the rise” isn’t a local story. In fact, it’s not even a story: it’s a pervasive meta narrative sustained by fear, not facts.
