Power U 17: Ways of Using Power

White text on a red and black background. Text reads "Power U with Andrea Reimer".

I'm back after a little longer and a little less of a break than I had planned for. My partner had a fall on the (beautiful) stairs of the New York State Capitol building. He's OK but primarily because he sacrificed his left shoulder, forearm and elbow to protect his head and neck. 7+ hours of surgery and a week in the US later, we are home and getting used to life with a little less mobility while he's healing.

After going through the six types of power for the last few videos (a reminder on what those are below) I am moving on to the ways of using power. Good news: there are only two!

Often people feel like it's the types of power that alienate them but in my experience its the way power is used that most repels people from the idea that they have power. Have a watch and let me know what you think. I'm curious to know how the idea of different ways of using power connects with your feelings about what types of power you have.

SIX TYPES OF POWER

3. Coercive 💣
4. Expert 🩺
5. Referent 🤝🏽
6. Refusing Powerlessness ✊🏽
