Power U 21: Examples of Power Types

PowerU #21 - I promised you some answers and here they are. These aren’t necessarily “right answers” as several of these could be taken in many different ways. For example, the positional power could also be viewed as reward power, depending on what perspective you’re looking at it through. Curious to hear how these answers conform to what you thought they might be. The critical thing is to build your muscles to both see the types of power and also the different perspectives that other people might be seeing them through. It may surprise you to find out that good theatre – including movies or streaming series - is all about the effective portrayal of power (it surprised me!). So one of the easiest places to practice identifying power is simply diving into a good movie or series. You’d be surprised how many of your favourite and most enduring classics have all six of the power types clearly embodied in individual characters.
